A Centre of Excellence in Electronics and Communication Engineering through Education and Research — training engineers to meet real-world challenges with cutting-edge technology
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2006 in Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology with a commitment of providing the state-of-art technical education to the future technocrats through dedicated and quality faculties carrying out an excellent teaching and learning process with excellent laboratory facilities and smart classrooms. The ECE program compiles the communication engineering and electronics engineering which forms the platform for the emerging fastest communication techniques and lightning speed processing applications respectively.
department of ECE offers one Under Graduate program (B.E.) in Electronics and Communication Engineering and one Post Graduate program (M.E.) in Communication Systems. The department was started with a student intake of 60 and current intake is 120 students for UG and 18 students for PG courses respectively. The faculty team of ECE department is comprised of eminent faculties from diverse area of specializations such as Wireless Communication, Mobile Communication, Wireless Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks, Communication Systems, Applied Electronics, Signal Processing, Image Processing, VLSI& Embedded Systems Design.
The students can experience real practical learning through the well-equipped practical laboratories like Communication Lab, Microprocessor Lab, Electronics circuit Lab, Microwave Lab, Digital Circuits Lab, Microwave and Optical Communication Lab, Computer Networks Lab, VLSI Lab and Advanced Communication Lab. Department of ECE provides a great learning experience platform where students are transformed in to a skilled individual in all aspects required by the next generation industries (Industry 4.0) and imparted with all ethics and human values to mould them into true citizens.
Our students have won first prizes with cash awards in Hackathon/Ideathon/Mapathon hosted by United Institute of Technology, IIT Bombay. Start up Tamilnadu and Tamilnadu Skill Development Council had organized "Naan Mudhalvan Niral Thiruvizha 2024 " Grand Innovation and Skilling Challenge. 144 Batches from all over Tamilnadu were shortlisted for final presentation. Out of 144 Batch our students Ms.Keerthi, Mr. Chanduprabhas and Mr.Bharath kumar of Final year ECE Mentored by Mr.Mohammed Kasim , Assistant Professor in ECE, won a sum of Rs. 1Lakh as prize money. Emerged as one among the top 33 and demonstrated the project in front of Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Government of Tamil Nadu. Our students also grabbed a Startup Schemes of Rs. 25Lakhs fund from EDII & DST supported NEWGEN IEDC to promote their Entrepreneurship skills
